The study examined data comparing dog ownership and the owners’ health records, and they found that owners between 40 to 80 years old tended to live longer to their non-dog similar age groups.
Dog ownership was linked specifically to a lower risk of heart disease deaths. The researchers offer the theory that due to dogs, owners went out more had had social support and motivation to exercise as well.
We already know owning dogs can be a great experience and a great addition to your family, but this just is one more proof to back that up!
