The Pitt County Commissioners voted 6-2 to get rid of the commercial dog licensing fee.
Ever since 2014, people residing gin unincorporated areas in the county were forced to pay fees for owning a dog. The fee was only $10 per year, but people were still not happy about it.
The fee was first introduced to fund the animal shelter and the expansion of it, but now the Animal Services Advisory Board is recommending ceasing the fee immediately. A lot of people felt the fee was unfair. Luckily, the fee is terminated immediately for residents!
